TOP PRIORITIES

Here are the top priorities that are important to me and these are the things that I will work for our community to advocate for more improvements and transparency from our City.

Housing Element

RPV must comply with state housing laws while protecting evacuation capacity, infrastructure, neighborhood compatibility, and quality of life. We should work with neighboring cities to restore meaningful local control and advocate for housing policies that work for our community. My thoughts on how we can improve the Housing Element process in a 3-part series:

Landslides & Infrastructure

RPV Residents face significant risks due to ongoing land movement activity, which threatens both neighborhood safety and the city’s financial stability. Urgent attention from local leaders is essential to ensure community safety and protect the city’s financial health. Timely preventative actions and adequate funding are critical to avert a potential crisis for both residents and the city.

Public Safety

I prioritize safety in Rancho Palos Verdes and believe community involvement is vital. We've fallen from one of California's top ten safest cities to outside the top twenty, and it’s time to take action. I propose enhancing our crime tracking methods, exploring private security options, and thoroughly evaluating our law enforcement services to restore safety and strengthen trust within our community.

Wildfire & Emergency Preparedness

RPV must prepare before an emergency, not during one. We need stronger wildfire prevention, evacuation routes, emergency communications, and neighborhood preparedness so we are ready for wildfires, earthquakes, severe storms, landslides, and other emergencies.

We need an effective El Nino preparedness plan.

Fiscal Responsibility

Protect taxpayers while preserving the essential services our community depends on. We must practice sound financial management, scrutinize spending and long-term obligations, pursue grants and outside funding, protect reserves, and plan responsibly for the financial impact of the landslide.

I will leverage my expertise to pursue new revenue streams, strengthen infrastructure funding through Development Impact Fees (DIFs), and secure available grants. My goal is to build a financially sustainable future for Rancho Palos Verdes without placing unnecessary burdens on taxpayers.

Roads & Basic City Services

Residents deserve roads, storm drains, parks, trails, and public spaces that are safe, maintained, and reliable. We need to address problems before they become costly failure. My goal is to build a realistic, multi-year infrastructure plan.

Organizations I Support

Our Neighborhood Voices initiative restores the authority of your local representatives to decide what gets built in your community, on your street and right next door to where you live. We are organizing a campaign to bring back our neighborhood voices in local planning with a 2024 statewide ballot measure.

We are a grassroots movement of Palos Verdes citizens that believes the State of California’s approach to dealing with the need for housing is misguided and needs to be reformed. We are not against affordable housing, but we are against forced over-development which destroys the fabric of neighborhoods.

We believe our energy future must involve everyone and everything. From adding more solar and wind to innovating ever-cleaner fuels of all kinds, energy policy must work for everyone, not just those who can afford it. Too many politicians are ignoring us and it’s time they listened. We have to get this right. Together, we can find a better way for all.

We are a nonprofit that advocates for empowerment of local governments to foster equitable, livable communities and truly affordable housing.
